New Zealand’s casino licensing update

The online-casino licensing process is under way. DIA’s 13 October 2026 update identifies 11 successful auction entities with 15 rights to apply. That is not a list of granted licences or confirmed consumer brands. Our casino licensing table names the entities and keeps their application status clear.

The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 treats conducting gambling and advertising it as separate matters. Transitional permission for an existing provider does not authorise advertising, and a familiar name or an overseas licence does not establish New Zealand online-casino approval.

Keep sports, poker and casino permissions separate

DIA identifies TAB NZ as the domestic provider permitted to offer online racing and sports betting. The sports guide and TAB review cover that service. TAB’s appearance in the casino auction results does not turn its sports account into a licensed casino or poker product.

The poker guide explains the checks needed before identifying a locally licensed poker service. Our football live scores work independently of any betting account. For primary records and practical help, use New Zealand resources and local gambling support.
